Albertina Graphic Arts Collection
The
Albertina Graphic Arts Collection is perhaps the largest and most important
graphic collection in the world. It owns about 60.000 drawings and about a
million graphic reproductions.
Albrecht Dürer's famous "Rabbit" from the year 1502 is only one example of
its many masterpieces. You will find works by Leonardo da Vinci,
Michelangelo Buonarroti, Rembrandt van Rijn, Peter Paul Rubens or Claude
Lorrain, Eugène Delacroix, Edouard Manet and Paul Cézanne. 20th century
Austrian artists like Egon Schiele, Gustav Klimt or Oskar Kokoschka are
accessible to public scrutiny.
It is much less known, that the Albertina is the fist Austrian art
institution to systematically collect contemporary and historic photography.
There is a focus on architecture, too!
After extensive renovating this excellent art collection is once more open
to the public! Don't miss it.
In front of the Albertina, Alfred Hrdlicka's controversial yet gripping war
