van Gogh at the Albertina The Albertina will display 170
masterpieces by Dutch expressionist Vincent van Gogh from September 5 to
December 8, 2008 in an exhibition entitled Vincent van Gogh: Drawn Pictures.
The focus of the exhibition will be the interaction between van Gogh’s
drawings and paintings created in his final years in Paris and Arles. Van
Gogh was a trailblazer of the Expressionist movement. His distinct brushwork
makes his work unmistakable, as shown in instantly recognizable pieces such
as Sunflowers. more

the biography by Georg Nikolaus Nissen. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was born as
Johannes Chrysostomus Wolfgangus Theophilus Mozart on January 27, 1756 / 8pm
in Salzburg, Getreidegasse 9 as seventh child. Five brothers and sisters
died in baby age. The house Getreidegasse 9 belonged to the merchant Johann
Lorenz Hagenauer (1719-1792). The Mozarts lived in a 4-room-flat in the
third floor. Wolfgang Amadeus was baptized on January 28, 1756 in Salzburg
Cathedral. Salzburg at that time had approximately 16,000 inhabitants..

Beethoven's biography, overview of
Beethoven's life Ludwig van Beethoven was probably born on December
16, 1770 in Bonn / Germany as son of the well-known tenor singer Johann van
Beethoven of the court orchestra in Bonn and his wife Maria Magdalena (orig.name
Keverich). The date cannot be determined exactly, anyway on December 17,
1770 he was baptized. He played music starting in his early childhood. Due
to his musical talent he played concerts in Cologne (academy concert) in
1778 and 1781 in Holland. Success was moderate, hopes for a wonderchild like
Mozart remained unfulfilled. more
